Hello My harmonica playing never sounds like blues songs. . (like the ones in eric clapton, little walter, and sounds like someone in subway doing cheesy folk songs? Why is that? What is the magic. I was happy to learn… Blues harp requires bending to achieve the notes that don’t naturally occur on the instrument. It also requires playing in a different key than the actual key of the harp. The most common is crossed harp/2nd position. Bob W. Is on the right track, but his key conversions are wrong. Here’s a simple diagram of cross/2nd position, as well as slant/3rd position keys in relation to song/harp key- You have it easy learning blues harp in the era of internet, YouTube, etc. Rather than typing several hundred words explaining how to bend, I would suggest you check out “kudzu runner” on YouTube.
