Bluesmaster VS Promaster VS Hammond Can someone please tell me the differences between these 3? Is the Suzuki Hammond thinner than the Promaster? I don’t want a thick harmonica. I like that the Bluesmaster is thin. Someone told me that the Hammond is actually thinner than the Bluesmaster. Is this true? And does the Hammond take less breath than the Bluesmaster? Also, does it have a warmer tone? In your opinion is the Hammond a lot better than the Bluesmaster and if so, why? Thank you so much. I was so happy to find this — Most of the information can be found on Suzuki’s site. Here’s a comparison chart that includes their “pro” models- The two Promasters are exactly the same size and weight. All 3 you listed have phosphor bronze reed plates. The Bluesmaster had a plastic comb, the other two have billet aluminum combs. As for warmer tone, that’s an individual, subjective quality that you’ll have to decide for yourself. Some people claim wood combs have a “warmer” tone, but I don’t hear it-I switched to plastic combs many years ago. Suzukis are decent instruments, but I’m curious why you chose them over Huang, Seydel, Oskar, and especially Hohner-the best selling brand by far, and the one played by almost all professional harp player. I’ve played all the above and more, and stick almost exclusively with my Hohner Special 20 Marine Bands for standard, 10 hole, diatonic harps.
